JOEL FAN
SUMMARY BIOGRAPHY
Acclaimed as a "superb" (The Boston
Globe), "extraordinary" (The Village Voice), and "versatile
and sensitive pianist" (The Washington Post), Joel Fan combines
virtuosity with a gift for lyricism. Mr. Fan began his international
performing career with the New York Philharmonic at the age
11, and has since appeared in recital and with orchestras throughout
the United States, Asia and Europe. Mr. Fan's wide and eclectic
repertoire includes the traditional piano classics, piano concertos,
his own piano transcriptions and cadenzas, and new music being
written today.
Recent and upcoming orchestral engagements
include the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, the New Symphony
Orchestra of Bulgaria, the Pueblo Symphony, Santa Fe Pro Musica,
the London Sinfonetta and the Singapore Symphony. Mr. Fan has
collaborated with conductors such as Alan Gilbert, David Robertson,
Lan Shui, and Zubin Mehta. Highlights of this past season include
solo recitals in Paris, at Caramoor Music Festival, and in
Greenwich, Connecticut; performances with the Mark Morris Dance
Group; and Mr. Fan's BBC Proms Debut at Royal Albert Hall with
Yo-Yo Ma and the London Sinfonietta.
